Lottery betting sites may end up a victim of their own success. Regulators in the UK, Australia and elsewhere have begun moving from merely giving lottery betting operators the stink-eye to actually banning certain products.
Image credit: Magnus D The UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) has announced that it will be introducing new licensing provisions to prohibit lottery betting sites from offering bets on the outcome of EuroMillions drawings.
The Northern Territory government has agreed to implement a ban (note: paywall link) preventing Lottoland from taking bets on the outcomes of Australian lotteries. Although Lottoland will no longer be able to accept wagers on local drawings, the website will still be free to take wagers on international lotteries.
